Feminist Movements post-covid 19: Between Repressions and Solidarities
This session will take place on August 31, 2022 from 05:00 p.m. to 06:30 p.m. Beirut time, and aims to look into the impact of the increased levels of policing and violence exerted by governments in the MENA region in response to the covid-19 pandemic on feminist activism and on feminist spaces and action.
Feminists and activists from the region are invited to also reflect upon the challenges and opportunities for feminist organizing in the region, building on the lessons learned from the pandemic, and discuss approaches and strategies for feminist organizing within the context of repressive governments.
The discussion will be moderated by Hayat Remmache, feminist, jurist and project manager, joined by the panelists:
- Nof Nasser-Eddin, Co-founder and Co-director, Centre for Transnational Development and Collaboration, UK
- Wini Omer, journalist and feminist activist, Sudan
- Latifa Bouhsini, Professor at the faculty of educational sciences in Rabat, Morocco
