Gender-based violence in the MENA region: post-covid feminist strategies

The Regional Gender and Feminism Office at Friedrich Ebert Stiftung (FES) is launching a series of webinars on “a post-covid feminist agenda” which will invite feminists and activists from the region to discuss and reflect upon feminist solutions for the “new normal” within the context of the MENA region.

We are excited to announce our first webinar on “Gender-based Violence in the MENA Region: Post-Covid Feminist Strategies” organized jointly with the FES Tunisia Office on June 9, 2022 from 04:00 p.m. to 05:30 p.m. Beirut time.

The 90-minute session invites feminists from the region to build on the knowledge and the lessons learned acquired from the pandemic to present and discuss strategies for addressing the violence that women and marginalized groups experience as part of their daily lives, and the structures that reinforce and institutionalize these different forms of violence. Our panelists include:

  • Hind Ahmed Zaki, Associate Professor of Political Science, Egypt
  • Fahima Hashim, Feminist and Activist, Sudan
  • Lina Elleuch, Project Coordinator, Mawjoudin, Tunisia
